 3.8 OTS

Car for complete restoration to original configuration.

Note that this car is FOR SALE

 4th October 2019

The upgraded instrument lights are in and look great.
 6th September 2019

We have been testing the car all week and after ironing out the gremlins, we were able to deliver the car to the excited owner in time for Goodwood Revival next week.
16th August 2019

The car is complete with the exception of the radio console that is going away for trimming now that we have the repairs made to it.
9th August 2019

We are now reaching the final stages of the build and it has to be ready for the Goodwood Revival.  Should be road testing next week as we have the registration sorted out now.
7th June 2019

A lot of small finishing jobs have been carried out and the seat runners are bolted down along with the seats.  The new bonnet safety catch is in place and a lot of time spent fettling the heater intake plenum.
26th April 2019

A number of the detail jobs were completed with the dash chromes fitted and brake reservoir bottles bolted in place.
18th April 2019

We reached a milestone today as it was started for the first time in years.  Sounded great and we just have the brakes to bleed ready for road testing.  A charging problem caused us to scratch our heads for a while but we worked it out in the end.oo
12th April 2019

Work continues and a lot of the smaller jobs are now finished.  Leon had to repair the door lock as it was worn.  We prefer to repair whenever possible rather than replace.
22nd March 2019

Leon has been busy building doors and fitting the fuel pump.  Note this car is for sale.
8th February 2019

Following last weeks fitting up of the front bumpers we decided that they weren't quite right.  Leon spent a further 2 days fettling.  Now, we are happy with them.
1st February 2019

Leon has been busy and the front bumpers and badge bar are finally in place.  The new fuel tank is fitted and the electrical test completed.
 18th January 2019

More work completed and it won't be long before we are firing her up!
11th January 2019

Now that we have the car back, Leon carried on with the final fitting up.  The rebuilt windscreen wiper motor was fitted along with the centre armrest console.
6th January 2019

We received these pictures from Mick Turley with the new hood fitted.  Fantastic job but it took a lot of effort to get the frame adjusted first.  Worth it though.

9th November 2018

Leon finished up some jobs and it was delivered to MCT Trimming in Nuneaton for a new hood.  Going to look fantastic!
2nd November 2018

The car is just about ready to go up to Mick Turley for the new hood.  The newly chromed rear lights are being built but we noticed an imperfection on the LHS shell so that has gone back for rectification.
26th October 2018

The doors are built and adjusted along with the hood frame.  (We don't finally fit the frame as this is done by Mick Turley).  The frame will also be painted prior to having the canvas top fitted.  The seats also turned up so it is coming together nicely now!
5th October 2018

The interior trimming is just about finished now and will go off to Mick Turley to have the roof fitted.
21st September 2018

The trimming has started and the windscreen was fitted.  Not long now before the hood goes on.
31st  August 2018

The front bumpers are now fitted (first fit) and now need adjusting to get the gapping corrrect. The bonnet dampers are built and connected.
3rd August 2018

We now have the exhaust and heatshields fitted.  Just waiting for the new distributor in (123) we will be ready to fire her up.  Exciting times!
27th July 2018

The car is really moving ahead now and the underbonnet is nearly complete.  The bonnet is back on and the newly rebuilt carbs installed.  Just need the exhaust and we aren't far away from firing her up.
20th July 2018

Leon has been continuing on the build up and the front of the car is nearly finished with the radiator, water pump and pulley etc fitted up.

13th July 2018

The new exhaust manifolds and wate pump have been painted and the radiator cowl prepared for fitting to the radiator for JKG).
6th July 2018

With all the parts now in, Leon was determined to get the gearbox fitted and the engine in the car.  Happy to say, all objectives achieved.

29th June 2018

The gearbox is now rebuilt and ready to be fitted when we have the new oil seal for the bell housing.  The steering column has been rebuilt and fitted to the car along with the newly (upgraded) radiator.
22nd June 2018

We have some more progress with numerous components fitted up.
8th June 2018

Attention has been turned to rebuilding the Moss box on the S1 OTS (JKG) and that should be completed this week.  This means that we can reach a major milestone and fit the engine.  Meanwhile, the brakes have been fitted and a number of sundry jobs finished.
1st June 2018

Main jobs completed this week was to make up the brake lines, fit the washer bottle frame, trim and build the centre dash and make up and fit the handbrake assembly.
25th May 2018

The build is still going apace and details like the wiper motor have been stripped ready for conversion to RHD.  It is now on all 4 wheels for the first time in a few years!
21st May 2018

The build up has started in earnest now and the wiring looms are in place.  Brake lines are being fitted up and the steering rack is fitted. Wiper rack and washer jets are in and the blanking plates bolted down.  The rear suspension is up and the front suspension should be finished by the end of the week.
23rd February 2018

Newly rebuilt 3.8 engine was collected this week.  A thing of beauty!
16th February 2018

Components are still being built up while we await the shell completion and the top wishbones and uprights are now finished.
19th January 2018

The car is coming together and the pedal box is fully rebuilt with pedals bent and height set correctly.  We had to fabricate a lock tab for the brake pedal.  The rear axle is coming on and the lower wishbones can be seen prepared for re-assembly.  The driveshafts have the new UJs fitted.
15th December 2017

Work continued on the clean up of the plated/powder coated parts.  The pedals are being cranked over in preparation for the RHD conversion.
17th November 2017

Callum spent a few hours stripping the wiper rack down and rebuilding it.  We don't grease them at this stage as it will need to be stripped again prior to installation.
13th October 2017

It was interesting to note that the windscreen trim pillar has a cutout for the grab handle.  The rear axle is now stripped and sent away for powder coating.  The diff will be rebuilt with a 3.07 CWP.
11th November 2016

Car is back from the blasters.  Actually, the tub isn't too bad (the frames are toast) so a meeting with the owner on Monday will decide how we proceed.

26th August 2016

Another project under way for JK.  This is one of 3 3.8 OTS cars we are carrying out full restorations to.  The strip down phase is really interesting albeit filthy!

7th July 2016

The bonnet panels are back from the media blasters and primed.  Lower panel is scrap so we will need a new underpan and centre section.
24th June 2016

The bonnet is now completely stripped and delivered over to Dean for stripping and repair.  The rest of the car is due to be stripped next week.
17th June 2016

Work has started on this latest restoration and the first stage is to strip out the car.  We started with the bonnet as this is going to require a lot of repair work and some replacement panels.
